A gale warning is in effect, with winds, currently from the southwest , at 30-35 knots.

Earlier today, winds were reported at as high as 50 knots.

The waves were raging at the beach in Alma and could be seen from the old schoolhouse, surging high into the air.

Considerable damage was sustained along the sea wall, with portions ripped away by the force of the incoming tide.

Debris was strewn alongside one of the hotels, logs, seaweed and rocks having been thrown about by the force of the winds.

One of the fishing boats broke loose, but has now been safely secured.

Thankfully, the last boat out in the bay, made it to shore and the harbour .

All the lobster boats are accounted for, which is a major relief for the community.

New Power Turbines In Nova Scotia located in Bay of Fundy, Canada are hoping to prove to be an exciting new source of hydro for the future. These turbines are placed underwater using the force of the world’s highest tides to power underwater “windmill” style turbines using subsea cables to fuel the Maritimes with hydro power. The first installation happening in Nova Scotia will test a run for future turbines. The first underwater turbine is expected to be able to power the size of a shopping mall. Future turbines will provide power to everyone in the Bay of Fundy and surrounding areas. The Canadian government has invested $20 million dollars in the Fundy based tidal project in hopes of a greener tomorrow. This money will be used to install 4 subsea cables each carrying up to 16 megawatts of electricity. Each cable will be able to provide power to over 20,000 homes. These cables are the future in Canada’s Maritimes electric supplier. Made in Italy, these subsea cables are to be a great step in the hydro business for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada. Along with a new source of power, Nova Scotia will also find itself with a new source of jobs. This will provide over 100 jobs for local Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia residents.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend everyone in the Bay of Fundy enjoyed beautiful weather, especially for this time of year. We also spotted the Canadian Geese flying South. That only means one thing in Canada, Winter is coming. Since we have felt a noticeable decrease in temperatures during night in the Bay of Fundy area. With the last few days bringing us low pressure we’ve been seeing rain as an effect. We can only hope we can enjoy another couple weeks of sunny Autumn days before the snow hits. The weather office of Canada predicts we will see some good weather for the next few days as the rain comes to a halt sometime this evening or in the early morning. Tonight’s predicted weather forecast is 7 degrees Celsius with a 40% chance of precipitation. See below for Fundy’s current weather forecast now.
